Community First: Impacts of Community Engagement
A Research Proposal

Carleton University and CACSL in collaboration with multiple community agencies and academic institutions received a 7 year research grant from Social Sciences and Humanities Council in 2012 with a goal to increase positive community impacts in the areas of poverty reduction, food security, environmental sustainability and violence against women in Canadian communities.

The primary objective of the CFICE project is to critically examine strategies and practices for optimizing community impacts in community service learning (CSL) and other forms of community-campus engagement (CCE).

Current Status:

  • The research process is entering its fourth year and is focusing in on the planning for the research to action phase in years 5 to 7.
